When Marta Llinarès, product designer and founder of the brand decided to launch her own collection in 2016, she designed the collections following her own personal values and likes with the most possible freedom. Folc is dedicated to those individuals that are fascinated by high quality product design pieces and the story behind them, always attempting to be as local and sustainable as possible.
Why we love Folc
Folc eyewear is where style meets sculptural elegance. Crafted in small batched and designed in the heart of Barcelona, each frame balances bold form with lightweight comfort. Their use of tri-acetate to create a strong look is intentional - designed to frame the face with confidence while maintaining a timeless, wearable edge. The designs feature architectural shapes, rich colour palettes and are effortlessly modern and chic to wear.

Sculpted & Handmade
As a design-driven brand, Folc dedicate a significant amount of time to the design process. The concepts and designs involved in developing each collection takes place 10 to 12 months before the final products are ready to be delivered to the market. The process involves creating a wide range of designs, which are then turned into handmade prototypes. After carefully evaluating the volumes, weight, and fit, Folc make the final selection and proceed with the pre-manufacturing prototypes, alongside the selection of colours and materials.
Perceiving each frame as a sculpture, Folc work smoothly with volumes and textures, combining solid and translucent shades with raw and polished acetate finishes, to play with light and create dimension.
Folc’s trademark style is to combine classic shapes with contemporary silhouettes through thick lines and bold profiles.
Handmade in Italy
Acetate, the primary material used in the production of Folc eyewear, is derived from plant-based sources, specifically cotton and wood dust. This material is known for its exceptional ability to showcase vibrant colours and deliver high-quality finishes. Folc exclusively use premium Italian acetate from the prestigious Mazzucchelli and LAES houses for all our models. The metal components of their frames are sourced from Germany and Italy. All materials and components are carefully sourced and manufactured in Italy, minimising distances and reducing our environmental impact.
In addition, all of our promotional materials are printed locally, right in the same neighbourhood where our studio is based. This supports and promotes the local industrial network, reminiscent of the Poblenou neighbourhood's vibrant manufacturing history from the 1970s.

Folc is committed to creating small, carefully curated collections each year, with a focus on quality over quantity. By producing in limited runs, the brand ensures that overstock is avoided and material waste is kept to an absolute minimum. This deliberate approach allows Folc to maintain control over its environmental footprint while continuing to deliver exceptional eyewear. Every aspect of the production process is designed with sustainability in mind. The brand directly sources all of its materials and lenses, ensuring full traceability and guaranteeing the highest standards of quality. This allows Folc to closely monitor the origins of each component and make adjustments to reduce waste at every stage of the process.
The philosophy of small collections and limited productions not only helps to manage resources more effectively, but it also allows the brand to maintain its focus on delivering meticulously designed eyewear, each piece crafted with care and attention to detail.
